Well, might as well get things started here!  Welcome to the craft contest!  The deadline submission is January 14th, so that should give you plenty of time to work on your crafts.  Here are the rules, which are not definitive, and could be changed or added to as issues arise:
  • A craft is loosely defined as something that you create with your hands.  Included in this is sewing, knitting crocheting, embroidery, jewelry making, drawing/painting, woodworking, glass etching, pottery, melting stuff in the oven, gluing stuff with that glue gun you've always wanted to use, etc.
  • Since we need to draw the boundaries somewhere, this contest does NOT include digital arts such as photography, movie-making, music composing/recording, etc.  Sorry!  We'll have another contest sometime for you techno-savvy media types.
  • Your craft must somehow be related to Guild Wars or the alliance.
  • You may make as many entries as you would like, but you can only receive one prize (i.e. if you make two crafts that would have come in 1st and 2nd place had they been made by different people, you will still only get the 1st place prize, and someone else will come in 2nd place)
  • You may collaborate with other people in the making of your crafts.
  • Spouses and significant others of alliance members are welcome and encouraged to participate (but the prizes will be GW based, so only someone with a GW account will receive tangible benefits)
  • There will be one judge from each guild in the alliance on the panel of judges, and crafts will be scored in a number of categories (tbd)

Does this cover everything?  Give me a shout if we need to add/change stuff.  Also, we need to choose judges.  Leading the judging team will be Mari from BFB.  OOPS has nominated The Artful Nudger to be their representative judge.  Each other guild is requested to choose a judge.  Keep in mind that someone who is judging may not enter the contest. 

Also, just an encouragement to the guys, don't be afraid to join this contest!  There are lots of 'crafts' that let you work with power tools  Wink  Or consider doing a joint craft with your significant other.

I'll post up some craft ideas and tutorials later for those of you who'd like to participate, but aren't sure where to start.  There's lots of time to try things out, so don't be shy of experimenting with new crafts and techniques!

I still haven't decided what I'm going to do, yeah I'm slackin', but I'm enjoyin' the prep period too. Just the other day I walked into a crafts store for the first time in... well... years (and then some). My brother was with me and he was totally shocked that I walked in the store. I'll not forget the expression he had on his face for quite some time to come. It was a good laugh. Though I must say, the visit didn't help me 'decide' on a particular craft. Hehe.

I want to do this so much, and I have an idea but I'm lacking in funds right now ;.;

I really cant sew for beans but with a little help I managed to get a cosplay costume out for a con I'm going to in mid-September. Too bad it isnt Guild Wars or else I would enter this contest. Maybe in the future? Cheesy
